Position Overview:
Reporting to Kidd Operations’ Automation Systems Supervisor, the Specialist’s primary objective is to support the integration of automation technology projects into mine operation activities and to assure optimal performance. The position will also act as a technical resource to maintenance tradespersons assisting with validating technical performance specs, troubleshooting challenging issues or failure analysis and various improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Monitoring, tracking and optimizing performance of automation systems
Identifying opportunities for mine operations to further benefit from the advantages of automation
Support the PLC and network by completing software modifications, troubleshooting and hardware upgrades
Provide technical support to the electrical maintenance team on AC drives, control systems and instrumentation
Provide support for the site’s power metering and distribution system
Provide engineering support for electrical/instrumentation projects with design and construction drawings
Identify, recommend and/or implement changes designed to improve procedures, equipment performance, working
conditions and product quality to maximize safety and efficiency
Work with all supervisors to ensure maximum performance of plant systems
Electrical Engineering degree or Technologist diploma, professional designation considered an asset
Proficient at Schneider PLC related software (ProWorx NXT, Concept, Control Expert) and networking (Modbus, MB+, MB-TCP).
A minimum of 5 year's experience in an industrial environment supporting PLC’s, drives and other controls systems on crushers, mills, pumps, conveyors, etc. with a mining background would be a strong asset
Experience in various Condition Based Monitoring processes would be considered an asset
Knowledge of AutoCAD, EAMS (Mincom Ellipse), and project management
Critical skills include, leadership, communication, ingenuity, creativity, and team player
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts (Kidd Operations reserves the right to modify working schedules as necessary, in accordance with applicable notice requirements and labor regulations.)
