NOV is a leading equipment and technology provider to the global energy industry, including conventional and unconventional oil and gas and renewable energy, such as wind. NOV serves major-diversified, national, and independent service companies, contractors, and energy producers in approximately 60 countries.
The Attorney will serve as an advisor trusted to provide not only legal advice, but also commercial input and judgment.
- Draft and negotiate bid proposals and contracts for NOV and ensure that NOV’s legal standards, policies, and procedures are adopted and followed.
- Draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including sales and purchase agreements, confidentiality agreements, master service agreements, consulting agreements, licenses, assignments and amendments.
- Work closely with NOV Assistant General Counsels, other attorneys, and segment and business unit leaders to provide high-quality, commercial legal advice and documentation.
- Advise and assist with negotiating and settling claims with customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Manage and supervise outside counsel where necessary.
- Assist with other projects where needed based on experience and judgment.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and otherwise qualified to practice as an in-house lawyer in Texas.
- At least three (3) to seven (7) years of prior corporate in-house or law firm experience, including drafting and negotiating material agreements in the oil and gas or other similar industry.
- Desire and ambition to “own” projects and become a trusted, go-to attorney for key Company leaders.
- Willingness to work on matters outside his or her base of prior experience and continue growing as an attorney and business advisor.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
