Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council’s (SRC) Research and Technology - Technical Services Division has an opening for an Associate Engineer who will focus on supporting sensor based sorting and dense media separation that includes proposal and report writing, project coordinating, collection and organization of data, conducting analysis and experimental procedures and ensuring quality and safety procedures are being adhered to.
Accountabilities
•Develop, review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), forms and other quality documents
•Ensure legally required documents are maintained, up to date and accurate
•Review client requirements prior to each project and maintain effective communication with clients and stakeholders
•Ensure the quality and timely delivery of client project including providing weekly process updates and coordinating staff by directing workflow
•Oversee compliance to safety policies and procedures, regulations and laws for personnel, equipment and accommodation
•Provide input on training and changes to safety policies, procedures and documentation
•Participate in business development activities that include providing insight about SRC and the business unit
•Research products and services to ensure the best and most appropriate selection has been made for the business requirements
•Assist the Business Unit manager in making recommendations on the economic and financial implications of projects, proposals or plans
•Assist with the daily financial activities of the team which may include budget preparation, control accounting and purchasing
•Manage safety, risk, scope, schedule, budget, and resources to ensure successful executions of project requirements
•Coordinate activities across a cross-functional project team and report on project milestones, challenges and outcomes
Qualifications
•Engineering or Science degree in a field related to mineral exploration, mineral processing or mining
•2-5 years of project management experience
•Professional designation is preferred such as Professional Engineer (P.Eng), Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT)

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients and cross-functional teams
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite
•Flexible and adaptable; able to manage competing project priorities and deadlines while using sound judgment, resourcefulness, initiative and innovation
•Technical writing and data interpretation skills
•Self-starter with effective organizational skills including attention to detail
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•Ability to identify and make recommendations related to improving efficiency and productivity
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
