Associate Engineer

The Associate Engineer on the Corrosion Engineering Team 2 conducts reliability assessments of pressure vessels and other water infrastructure assets, develops and implements measures to prevent failure or rehabilitate assets, and performs forensic investigations of materials and metallurgical issues. The role ensures that infrastructure meets specified reliability standards and requires at least four years of relevant experience.

The successful candidate should have experience with in-service inspections or designing repairs for infrastructure such as pressure vessels, chemical tanks, process piping, or similar assets. The position also involves coordinating with Metropolitan’s design engineers, operations personnel, and other agencies to support effective project execution and asset management.

Schedule:

4/10 Monday – Thursday 6:00AM – 4:30PM PST

Travel: This position will require travel to various District facilities throughout the service area, sometimes requiring overnight stay in the project area.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer II level; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience which must have been at the Assistant Engineer II level

Degree in a related field is defined as: Mechanical Engineering, OR Chemical Engineering OR, Materials Science, OR Engineering, OR Metallurgical Engineering, OR Petroleum Engineering, OR Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering degree.

Relevant Experience is defined as:

experience performing in at least two of the following areas: In-service inspections on or designing of repairs to infrastructure such as pressure vessels, chemical tanks, process piping, or other related infrastructure; Non-destructive testing activities on infrastructure, fabrications, forgings, or castings; Materials or corrosion testing activities; Engineering failure analysis investigations; AND/OR Engineering analysis.

Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
