Job Description
EAM is seeking a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney (Collections) with 2-5 years of experience to join our in-house legal team. The successful candidate will focus on collections matters, advocating for the rights of creditors and the receivership estate while working closely with our network of legal partners, including frequent collaboration with practicing counsel. Key Responsibilities
•Manage and execute collections efforts on behalf of receivership estates, including negotiating with debtors, drafting demand letters, and pursuing recovery strategies.
•Represent the interests of creditors and the receivership estate in legal proceedings, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
•Associate with Jack J. Nichols, P.C. as needed, providing legal support for litigation and collection actions initiated by or in coordination with the firm.
•Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements, and prepare for hearings or trials as required.
•Communicate professionally and firmly with debtors to secure payments while maintaining a high standard of ethics and client service.
•Collaborate with EAM’s receivership support team to develop and implement asset recovery plans, ensuring timely and effective resolution of claims.
•Track and report on performance metrics, contributing to bonus eligibility through successful collections outcomes.
•Work independently on assigned cases, demonstrating initiative and a self-starter mindset to meet deadlines and achieve results.
Qualifications
Experience: 2-5 years of legal experience in collections, with a strong preference for candidates with litigation experience in state or federal courts.
Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the Texas Bar.
Skills:
•Proven ability to manage collections cases from negotiation through resolution, with a focus on creditor rights.
•Litigation proficiency, including drafting pleadings, arguing motions, and trial preparation (preferred).
•Exceptional communication skills, capable of professional yet assertive interactions with debtors.
•Strong analytical and research abilities, with attention to detail in legal documentation.
•Self-motivated and proactive, thriving in an autonomous work environment.
Work Commitment: Willingness to work 40 hours per week in-office at EAM’s Bellaire, TX location.
