Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Resources (NEER) is seeking an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Operator for their under 55lb UAS program. This position would be flying a LiDAR / visual UAS for mapping missions across the United States. This will be a 3 year project bound position with the main location being West Palm Beach, FL. There will be a requirement to be able to travel weekly around the United State to fly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- The UAS Pilot is responsible for safety during all phases of flight

- Assuring the aircraft meets airworthiness specifications before operation

- Can analyze weather and hazards pertaining to the intended flight path

- Create and update documentation as it pertains to the flight operation

Highly Preferred Education and Experience

- Prior experience with small and large UAS, including quadcopter and fixed wing

- Be able to pilot the aircraft in both autonomous and full manual flight modes

- Basic computer skills and knowledge in the operation of networks and communications systems; both hardware and software

- Four years of experience in aviation or UAS operations

- Experience in flying LIDAR and RGB sensors

Preferred Skills

- BVLOS Operations in uncontrolled airspace

- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in the field

- LIDAR processing experience

- Private Pilots License (Part 61 or 141) with concurrent medical

Permanent residence will be in the vicinity of Juno Beach and West Palm Beach Florida

Job Overview

Employees in this job will operate as an Unmanned Aircraft (UA) pilot who will be flying an under 55lb drone on a daily basis. They will be tasked with creating daily flight plans, conducting flights, and recording all safety and flight data to work with business analysts in creating the safety case for the project with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

- Executes and records all safety and flight data

- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

- Associate's or Equivalent Experience

- Experience: 1+ years

- Valid Driver's License (NON-CDL)

- FAA Part 107 Certificate
