DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is currently looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join their team in Pineville, Louisiana.
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Management Team in the successful execution of projects from order acceptance through closeout, with a focus on the Traditional Package and FBS product lines. Reporting to the Project Management Supervisor, the APM is responsible for managing schedules, coordinating documentation, supporting procurement activities, assisting with resource management, and ensuring accurate and timely project deliverables. This role requires collaboration with internal teams, vendors, and customers, as well as occasional field support to help meet project milestones on time and within scope.

- Attend Order Acceptance Meetings for new projects.
- Manage and maintain project schedules in Epicor.
- Ensure all new projects are entered with complete and accurate data.
- Regularly update project information in coordination with Project Managers (PMs).
- Monitor deadlines related to RFIs, submittals, EJB, BOM, and deliveries to confirm commitments are met by all stakeholders.
- Collect and organize customer and manufacturer-provided documentation.
- Create and maintain the EJB with vendor cut sheets, customer-supplied documentation, and internal records.
- Ensure the EJB is complete and up to date by required deadlines.
- Collaborate with PMs to identify missing information and source required documents.
- Manage equipment and drawing submittals with internal and external customers, ensuring timely submission and approval.
- Compile and package submittal documents for PM review.
- Prepare transmittal forms as required.
- Create and manage Drawing Change Requests (DCRs) and provide revised drawings as needed.
- Prepare RFQ drawings and submit to Project Support for distribution to vendors/fabricators.
- Review vendor quotes with PMs and forward finalized requests to Purchasing with accurate delivery details.
- Track orders to ensure timely delivery of steel, anchor bolts, equipment, and other materials.
- Review and update standard BOMs; request clarification on missing ratings or equipment details.
- Ensure material lead times align with project schedules; propose alternates if required.
- Oversee BOM updates in Epicor or through change orders.
- Review and comprehend customer POs and contracts to manage tasks, schedules, and deliverables.
- Work with PMs and Purchasing to prepare and submit accurate change orders on time.
- Follow up with customers for required documentation to support timely billing.
- Gather and maintain site-specific information including addresses, delivery contacts, and logistics details.
- Support FBS route studies and delivery planning.
- Source and expedite last-minute, missing, or replacement materials during the construction phase to prevent delays.
- Provide field support, including site visits and participation in customer meetings, as required.
- Travel to job sites across the country to support project execution and deliveries.
- Assist PMs and Project Support teams in coordinating resources including Engineering & Design, Vendors, and PSS.
- Attend internal and external engineering and design meetings to ensure full understanding of project expectations.
- Collect and submit all required closeout documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
- 1–3 years of experience in project management support, construction, or related field.
- Proficiency with project management software (Epicor experience preferred).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Basic understanding of construction contracts, submittals, and change order processes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Willingness to travel nationally as required (estimated 15–25%).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
