Are you in? Primary Purpose: PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under close direction of any of the higher classifications uses hand and power tools for installation, operation, & maintenance of electric and gas facilities, and may be assigned to assist any departmental classification.
Primary Duties: PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
•Regularly and customarily performs a variety of manual or physical work.
•Under close direction of any higher classification assists in the installation, operation, maintenance, and removal of gas or electric meters.
•Under close direction of any higher classification performs pavement breaking, excavation, backfill, and restoration work.
•Perform gas leak survey duties in accordance with DOT Regulations.
•Load and unload materials, make deliveries and pickups, replenish departmental materials and supplies.
•Read residential and commercial gas and electric meters.
•Assist with traffic control by performing flagging duties. (certification as needed)
•Perform housekeeping duties (platform, shop area, parking areas, job site, vehicles, etc).
•Performs other related or less-skilled work, as required or directed.
•Operates CMV and other vehicles, applicable data systems, or other Company equipment. (vehicle radio system, RM, Itron, etc.).
•Reads, writes and communicates effectively in the English language.
Job Scope: JOB SCOPE
•The Assistant Mechanic Operator will be eligible to bid on an available Mechanic Operator position, providing all qualifications, including testing, are met. All Mechanic Operator job vacancies shall be first offered to qualified Assistant Mechanic Operators, in order of departmental seniority, before going to bid.
•Position is a scheduled position.
Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•High school diploma or vocational school education or equivalent.
•Employee must pass qualification test prior to Company awarding the job.
•Must have proper temperament for meeting the public and dealing with customers.
•Willing and able to work a rotating shift and/or scheduled hours.
•Must be able to work from a ladder, both above and below ground. Must be able to work in close spaces.
•Must be willing and able to work overtime on a regular basis and must be available for callout overtime.
•Must have or be qualified to obtain promptly the required vehicle operator's license, including CDL.
•Must be available for overtime or standby as needed.
•Must wear appropriate safety clothing. (i.e., Hard hat, Safety glasses, Personal Protective Clothing, etc.).
•Must comply with DOT Regulations.
•Strenuous physical effort, including reaching, working in abnormal positions, walking, stooping, and climbing.
•Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.

•Hourly rates will be paid in accordance with terms of the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience or collective bargaining agreement: $31.85/Hr.
