Reporting to the General Supervisor, Underground Mine, you will be part of the Mine Department. You will be responsible for all underground activities and workers under your supervision. You will ensure good quality of work and processes, maximize operational efficiency, and actively participate in frequent field assessments. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Using the weekly planning as a starting point to establish a daily detailed planning oriented toward achieving the weekly KPIs goals, by considering the workforce / equipment availability and the global priorities of the mining sequence;
- Plan activities with different internal operating groups (Maintenance - Elec/Mechanic, Mining Eng., Geology, UG Mine construction);
- Include in the detailed planning the non-contributing KPIs tasks (Ex: Floor cleaning, bench blowing, stope prep, ventilation change over, ground support, rehab work, etc.);
- Always ensure and promote safety on site, leading by example;
- Supervise the performance of the underground crews to achieve production goals, minimize costs, and make effective use of personnel;
- Frequent field visits to inspect the daily progress of the planned tasks;
- Communicate the production objectives expectations at the beginning of the shift;
- Perform a Daily review with the supervisors to explain the gaps regarding the initial daily planning;
- QA/QC of underground activities (adherence to standards and work quality);
- Establish the needed tools to identify the critical paths for weekly objectives and priorities achievement;
- Identify, follow up and report on weekly operational variances;
- Development and application of procedures and best practices;
- Guide and coach individuals towards reaching both personal and company goals;
- Provide coaching and mentorship within the mine department.
- 5-6 years of experience in the mining field;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
