East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is currently seeking a motivated, experienced, and team-oriented Assistant Engineer to join the Wastewater Department's Project and Construction Management (PCM) Section. PCM section staff support the Wastewater Department's Capital Improvement Program as construction phase project managers for wastewater treatment and collection system rehabilitation and expansion construction projects. This position provides opportunities to gain construction management experience while working on wastewater treatment plant upgrades and traditional wastewater infrastructure rehabilitation projects.
The most competitive candidates will possess knowledge and experience in management of construction projects, with a general understanding of the wastewater treatment process and coordinating construction activities in operating treatment facilities. This individual should have experience working on construction sites, have a basic understanding of the various construction trades, and how to troubleshoot field issues. This individual will be required to work well with EBMUD and consulting engineers, as well as EBMUD operations and maintenance staff. The candidate should also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate good interpersonal skills with a teamwork-based approach, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Reviewing and interpreting construction plans and specifications; responding to RFIs; compiling and summarizing submittal comments for return to the contractor; documenting field activities; assisting with startup activities; resolving field issues with design engineers and operation and maintenance staff; preparing cost estimates; and reviewing and preparing schedules. Assistant engineers should be familiar with typical software used for construction management including Excel for spreadsheets and Microsoft

The salary range is $11,214 per month increasing to $11,775, $12,364, $12,982, and $13,631 after 6, 18, 30, and 42 months, respectively.
