POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Electrical Superintendent is responsible for supporting the Electrical Foreman and field installation teams by ensuring that all self-performed electrical work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with quality standards and project timelines. This role requires strong organizational, leadership, and technical skills to coordinate daily field operations and contribute to project success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with management of jobsite safety, communicating with SOLON field management personnel and Electrical Foreman as needed to:
•Coordinate project-specific training for existing employees and new employee orientation training.
•Coordinate the procurement of safety equipment as needed.
•Ensure proper completion and distribution of all required jobsite safety paperwork.
•Assist with coordinating incident investigations as needed.
•Monitor job-site safety production and redirect activities as needed to ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently.
•Ensure all company work is completed within established safety, quality, schedule, and profitability standards.
Provide general support to the Electrical Foreman to ensure day-to-day production planning and work scheduling, to include:
•Ensuring Electrical Foremen have all the tools, equipment, and materials needed to complete projects.
•Coordinate with the Electrical Superintendent, General Superintendent, and Assistant General Superintendent as needed to ensure work progress complies with the overall project schedule.
Provide material management support, including:
•Working with the Electrical Superintendent to ensure timely and accurate delivery of the initial project electrical Bill of Materials.
•Coordinate additional day-to-day material orders for projects as needed.
•Ensure that all material orders are properly received and documented per company standards.
Oversee project quality and code compliance, including:
•Provide guidance to Electrical Foreman and Installation crews to ensure projects meet established quality standards.
•Meet and consult with the Electrical Superintendent as needed to review project-specific quality challenges and considerations.
•Perform intermittent inspections and quality control checks as needed.
•Coordinate with temporary labor agencies as needed to ensure an adequate supply of labor for projects.
•Make recommendations on hiring and/or terminations of staff to management.
•Ensure timely and accurate completion and submittal of weekly timecards.
Perform miscellaneous work planning and coordination support, including:
•Coordinate and ensure the provision of equipment and materials as needed for project interconnection.
•Provide project trench path layout
•Assist with project installation work as needed
•Coordinate wire recycling after project completion.
•Coordinate with company project management and engineering staff as needed to ensure the timely and accurate flow of information to field personnel.
•Assist with the project kick-off and close-out efforts as needed.
•Ensure accurate and timely completion and processing of all project field documentation.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education and Experience:
•7+ years demonstrated success in an electrical construction supervisory role within the commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction industry.
•Thorough knowledge of all applicable federal and local safety regulations.
•Thorough knowledge of local and national building codes and standards.
•Solar commercial and industrial electrical experience not required, but highly desired.
Other Competencies and Requirements:
•The ability to travel as needed is required. Short-term travel (in-state and out-of-state) is expected, with occasional long-term assignments.
•Clean driving record and ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
•Must possess strong attention to detail and effectively allocate time and resources across multiple projects.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
•Ability to effectively lead and direct crews with varying skill and experience levels. Must be a natural leader and organizer who leads by example and sets the pace for those around them.
•Must be a natural ‘builder’ with a strong work ethic.
Working Conditions:
The work can be physically demanding. It involves frequently working in an outdoor environment in a variety of weather and working conditions. Workers may be subjected to extreme weather conditions and terrain, as well as physical circumstances involving extensive climbing, lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.It requires weekday and, possibly, weekend work on assigned sites and work supporting those assigned sites. Assigned sites may also require travel, overnight, or extended stays. Sites are typically in the Southwestern United States. Note: THIS IS A SITE SAFETY POSITION
