Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. (PNG), a subsidiary of TriSummit Utilities Inc., owns and operates natural gas transmission and distribution systems in British Columbia’s lower Peace River, west central, and north coast regions. PNG’s western transmission line extends from the Enbridge gas transmission system north of Prince George along the Highway 16 and Highway 37 south corridors to Terrace and then onto the port communities of Kitimat and Prince Rupert, providing transportation and gas services to twelve communities and a number of industrial facilities. In the Province’s northeast, Pacific Northern Gas (N.E.) Ltd. provides gas transmission and distribution service in the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge areas.
Reporting to the Manager, Asset Integrity, the Asset Integrity – Pipeline Systems and Facilities will be relied upon to guide and advise on the prioritized execution and continuous improvement of PNG’s pipeline and facility (collectively ‘pipeline system’) integrity management programs to ensure safe, reliable, and risk managed design, asset implementation, operation, and maintenance.
In this role, the successful candidate will be the internal subject matter expert for all matters associated with, but not limited to, integrity activity planning and prioritization, threat identification and management, fitness for service (FFS) and remaining life assessment, code compliance, and integrity and risk management related industry benchmarking.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•Perform fitness-for-service engineering assessments for in-service pipelines on integrity threats.
•Provide engineering oversight, technical direction, and guidance to ensure alignment with industry standards, regulations, industry best practices, and company requirements.
•Act as a subject matter lead for the development of integrity-based standards, practices, and documentation.
•Conduct economic, feasibility, and risk studies using practical experience and engineering principles, demonstrating originality and ingenuity when devising practical, economical, and value-added solutions to issues.
•Independently manage, update, improve, and conceive integrity program elements and identify asset risks to be investigated and projects to be developed.
•Actively manage and provide oversight to various integrity monitoring and management programs such as in-line inspection (ILI) and over-the-line inspection, direct assessment, and facility inspection.
•Evaluate pipeline system integrity conditions and identify risk reduction and hazard control methodologies.
•Perform pipeline system defect assessments and identify appropriate repair methodologies aligned with the code requirements and industry best practices.
•Gather, analyze, and manage integrity program data in support of communications and performance measurement with the industry and regulators.
•Provide integrity data QA/QC by reviewing direct assessment data on integrity digs, inspections, and repairs.
•Apply Machine Learning and statistical analysis to support engineering assessment assumptions and projected long-term integrity plans.
•Apply project management by way of successful development and implementation of justifications, cost estimates, schedules, feasibility and trade-off studies, budget control, scope management, risk identification and prioritization, resource and contract administration, and stakeholder management.
•Represent the company’s technical interests in written and verbal communications with internal stakeholders and external agencies, regulatory bodies, municipalities, industry partners, and other interest groups.
•Maintain and develop expertise by participating in industry groups, committees, and workshops and attending conferences, training, and technical exhibitions.
Experience & Qualifications
•Engineering degree in an applicable discipline (mechanical, materials, or metallurgical preferred).
•Eng. licensed to practice in the province of British Columbia (EGBC).
•5+ years (preferred) proven relevant progressive experience.
•High level knowledge of engineering principles, standards, techniques, policies and processes with respect to the integrity management and risk management of pipeline systems.
•Demonstrated expertise in applicable pipeline codes and standards associated with pipeline integrity – Ex. CSA Z662, ASME B31.8, API 579, API 1173, API 1183, etc.
•Past participation in industry groups that promote the advancement of pipeline system integrity management such as PRCI, CEPA, CGA, AGA, and INGAA.
•Working knowledge of provincial and federal pipeline regulations.
•Well versed in pipeline and facility design, construction, operation, and maintenance practices.
•Thorough understanding of nondestructive testing technologies.
•Experience in interpretation and analysis of ILI data and performing ILI-NDE correlation analysis.
•Experience in metallurgy and fracture mechanics is an asset.
•Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing the utilities industry is considered an asset.
•Fluent in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint) and business management platforms (JD Edwards, Maximo, SharePoint)
•Strong project management, presentation, and facilitation skills.
•Demonstrated ability to interact with and effectively manage input from multiple stakeholders to deliver on business objectives.
•Demonstrated ability to prepare and present technical and business management reports.
•Demonstrated ability to make independent engineering decisions and to lead recommendations or decisions for difficult, complex, or unique problems.

•The position is based out of PNG’s existing office locations with regular and frequent travel throughout PNG’s operations and service territories. PNG’s corporate headquarter is located in Vancouver, with main field offices in Terrace, Smithers, Fort St John, and Dawson Creek.
