Position Summary:
Are you tired of spending the summer in the field? We are seeking an office based skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for compiling, writing, and editing detailed archaeological reports based on field data, research, and analysis. This role requires a strong background in archaeology or a related field, excellent writing skills, and the ability to work efficiently within tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
•Compile and synthesize data from archaeological fieldwork, including surveys, and lab analyses.
•Write detailed and comprehensive reports that meet regulatory requirements and client specifications.
•Ensure accuracy and clarity in documenting findings, methodologies, and interpretations.
•Data Analysis and Interpretation:
•Collaborate with archaeologists, project managers, and other team members to interpret findings.
•Integrate field notes, photographs, drawings, and other data into coherent narratives.
•Editing and Proofreading:
•Edit and proofread reports for grammatical accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
•Ensure compliance with company and client standards, as well as relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
•Research and Reference Management:
•Conduct literature reviews and background research to support archaeological interpretations.
•Manage references and citations in reports, ensuring proper documentation of sources.
•Collaboration and Communication:
•Work closely with the archaeological team to gather information and insights for reports.
•Track progress and manage timelines to ensure timely delivery of reports.
•Assist in coordinating report submission processes and handling feedback or revisions.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, History, or a related field.
•Previous experience in writing archaeological reports or similar technical documentation.
•Experience with archaeological fieldwork and data analysis is highly desirable.
•Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
•Ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise narratives.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•Familiarity with GIS, CAD, RAAD, or other archaeological software would be an added bonus.
•Knowledge of archaeological methods, terminology, and regulatory standards.
•Excellent organizational and time management skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
