Job Summary

Pax Environmental is seeking a part-time, on-call hourly arborist in the Greater Los Angeles County region. The ideal candidate currently resides in the Los Angeles County area and will support projects locally and remotely.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

- Conduct environmental inspections for special status wildlife and plants, nesting bird surveys and biological assessments.

- Conduct tree assessments, tree inventories, and draft tree protection plans.

- Monitors the implementation and compliance of tree protection measures during construction and other project activities.

- Communicate with regulatory agencies, clients (homeowners, Cities, Counties), construction crews to complete the reporting requirements.

- Use of GPS units and aerial photographs for project navigation and collect field data.

- Taking photographs and detailed notes of site conditions.

- Understanding of project environmental requirements and associated laws protecting biological resources.

- Prepare high quality technical reports and environmental documents.

- Frequent field work, often requiring overnight stays.

Requirements and Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field.

- 5+ years of relevant experience in restoration and environmental consulting.

- ISA Certified Arborist (tree risk assessment qualification (TRAQ) certification desired).

- Ability to research and interpret a variety of municipal tree ordinances.

- Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, CESA, CWA Compliance processes and permitting.

- The individual should be comfortable working in physically challenging outdoor situations in all types of weather and traveling on a regular basis to project sites which may require overnight stays.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience with MS Office.

- Must have a satisfactory driving record and complete a background check.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
