Job Title: Applications Engineer
SUMMARY
This position serves as the technical authority for a specialized product line, providing engineering expertise to support sales and project development efforts across the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Focus on sales support and evaluation of new business opportunities
•Provide technical support across departments for the company’s product line
•Review customer inquiries (RFQs) and determine suitable company products to meet application requirements
•Collaborate with customers to develop tailored solutions and help close sales opportunities
•Prepare cost estimates for custom or non-standard products
•Perform engineering calculations related to product performance and sizing
•Create and follow up on quotations as assigned
•Support engineering and production teams in the design, build, testing, and installation of final products
•Perform other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS
•Strong industry knowledge of product applications, engineering design, and applicable standards
•Understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to product cost estimation
•Ability to perform fundamental calculations related to mechanical design
•Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) to create layouts and proposal drawings
•Basic understanding of electrical control systems
•Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with customers and internal teams
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering) with a minimum of 7 years of related experience. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics, and write clear technical reports.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Strong math skills, including algebra, trigonometry, and geometry, for engineering calculations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
•Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks)
•Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
•Capable of working within ERP and CRM systems
•Strong typing and general computer skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•Frequent standing, walking, and sitting
•Primary work location is on the 2nd floor of an office building
•Some time spent on the production floor
•Extensive computer and phone use required
WORK ENVIRONMENT
•Professional, temperature-controlled office environment within a manufacturing facility
•Frequent interaction with shop floor personnel
•Occasional visits to customer sites to assess applications or inspect installed systems
•Exposure to mechanical equipment and standard industrial noise levels (hearing protection not typically required)
TRAVEL
•Occasional travel for customer site visits and trade shows
•Primarily domestic travel, with potential for visits to U.S. military or government contractor locations
•Valid U.S. passport required
