Job Description
Weatherford is seeking a Application Drafter Engineer to perform technical services for oil and gas operations. This role involves applying standard techniques and procedures for various products and services, troubleshooting technical issues, and serving as the key interface with clients at well sites. The position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent client relationship skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic field environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in daily operations and safety meetings, including toolbox talks and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
- Maintain equipment and work areas in safe, presentable conditions
- Monitor and analyze data to recommend optimal services and solutions
- Perform comprehensive job planning, tool preparation, mobilization, and execution
- Test, operate, and maintain tools according to established procedures
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships to ensure repeat business
- Follow up on equipment failures and contribute to Root Cause Analysis reports
- Perform engineering calculations and data interpretation as needed
- Design, analyze, and troubleshoot Pulling and Jacking Units (PJU) systems and components
- Develop technical specifications and procedures for PJU operations
- Provide field support for PJU installation, commissioning, and maintenance
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for pulling and jacking units, including structural frames, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components.
- Collaborate with engineers and field technicians to translate concepts and specifications into production-ready drawings.
- Create layout and assembly drawings for rig components such as winches, masts, jacks, and substructures.
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
- Revise and update drawings based on engineering changes, field feedback, or regulatory updates.
- Maintain organized documentation of all drawings, revisions, and project files.

- Conduct occasional site visits to verify measurements and gather data for design accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- 2 - 5 years of experience in Oil & Gas or similar industry
- Experience with structural design work, particularly for load-bearing components and frameworks
- Knowledge of mechanics, electricity, electronics, pneumatics, and/or hydraulics preferred
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
- Physical capability to perform required field tasks.
- Understanding of load calculations, stress analysis, and material selection for PJU components
- Experience with structural analysis and design of oil field equipment
- Previous work with Pulling and Jacking Units in oil and gas applications
- Familiarity with API standards related to lifting equipment and structural design
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) for structural components
- Knowledge of wellhead equipment and downhole tools
Travel Requirement: Up to 10% domestic and potentially international travel to PJU installation and operation sites.
