Advanced Process Control Engineer

We are looking for an Advanced Process Control (APC) Engineer.
Your primary role will be to provide expert guidance and support to optimize operations using Advanced Process Control technologies such as DMC3, PACE or Profit Suite. You will also lead improvement initiatives for all operating departments. This includes reliability, inspection, corrosion management, static equipment, rotating equipment, electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control support.
Key Responsibilities
As a successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:
•Streamline APC objectives with corporate objectives, develop programs, best practices, and monitor KPIs to improve APC and economic performance.
•Analyze data from various sources, such as process variables, instrumentation, and control systems, to identify opportunities for improvement.
•Develop inferential (linear and non-linear) to improve refinery operations, efficiency, and reduce costs.
•Implement APC strategies, perform feasibility studies, and establish new business cases to optimize refinery operations and maximize desired product yield.
•Conduct pilots and evaluate new APC technologies such as Real-Time optimization, Machine Learning, and AI to contribute to yield improvement.
•Analyze chronic problems and debottleneck complex APC to improve process operations and economic benefits.
•Provide subject matter expertise to operating facilities Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams by consulting, providing awareness sessions, and participating in and leading technical exchanges and conferences.
•Lead technical sessions such as the design review, model review, and commissioning.
•Perform periodic assessments and evaluations to assess the performance and effectiveness of real-time optimization solutions.
•Work closely with the optimization team (Real Time optimization engineers, Simulation engineers and automation engineers and ensure optimization requirements are met.
•Lead pre- and post-performance baseline evaluation for APC technologies.
•Monitor economic benefit, the Key performance indicators, and provide recommendations.
•Review standards and General Instructions on behalf of the GME departments and act as the leading SME.
Minimum Requirements
As a successful candidate, you will hold a:
•Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering degree. An advanced degree is preferred.
•15 years of experience in reliability engineering in the Oil and Gas Industry’s downstream sector. Twenty years is preferable.
•Expertise in APC, control systems, and Open Platform Communication OPC.
•Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of refinery economics, mass and energy balances.
•Demonstrate familiarity with international standards and specifications for advanced process control.
•Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills in the field of advanced process control.
•Strong leadership skills to effectively manage technical discussions and guide technical teams.
•Knowledge of oil/gas-related plant processes
