POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marathon Louisiana Refining Division Environmental, Safety, and Security (ES&S) Department is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Environmental SpecialistEngineer at the Garyville Refinery, reporting to the Environmental Manager. The Environmental Specialistengineer will perform a variety of tasks to support and ensure environmental compliance across refinery operations. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to leading and supporting development, implementation and monitoring of environmental programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. We offer a flexible 9/80's or 4 days onsite/1-day remote schedule.
Relocation has been approved for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
•Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local environmental regulations within assigned areas and programs.
•Develop and implement new environmental compliance programs in conformance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
•Manage and improve existing environmental compliance programs.
•Prepare detailed regulatory reports on topics within areas of responsibility.
•Review new regulations for potential impacts to the refinery.
•Provide compliance assistance to multiple stakeholders within the company.
•Work as a member of an Area Team to support day-to-day operation of the refinery and ensure compliance with applicable requirements and company policies.
•Lead and/or participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions according to assigned and agreed to schedules.
•Participate in Environmental audits and develop corrective actions as required.
•Develop and maintain environmental manuals and management systems. Conduct training sessions as needed with appropriate stakeholders.
•Perform other requirements as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
•Knowledge of Federal, State, and local air regulations applicable to refining operations in Louisiana.
•Must be detail oriented, innovative, and have excellent problem-solving skills.
•Must be able to thrive in a collaborative environment with the ability to effectively communicate with people across multiple functions within the company as well as with regulatory personnel.
•Must be self-motivated, adaptable, organized, and able to effectively manage priorities to support a fast-paced environment.
•Must have strong reading comprehension as well as good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write and review technical reports and procedures.
•Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
•Travel Requirement is 5% or less.
Preferred Qualifications
•Minimum one-year of air related compliance management experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional Level 3 (P3)
•High School Diploma or GED required with 15 years of relevant environmental experience in a process industry (e.g. refining, midstream, petrochemical or other heavy industrial); or Bachelor’s degree in a HES related field, Engineering degree, or advanced degree with 7 years relevant environmental experience
•Detailed knowledge on current and proposed environmental rules and regulations with the ability to communicate impact plans to local leadership for budget development
•Ability to review engineering designs and specifications to ensure compliance with appropriate environmental rules and regulations
•Comprehensive knowledge of facilities and relationships with environmental rules and regulations with the ability to initiate steps that will avoid reoccurrence of environmental problems
