The SJRA is a public entity whose mission is to develop, conserve, and protect the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. Its primary purpose is to implement long-term, regional projects related to water supply and water quality. SJRA delivers raw water to both municipal and industrial consumers and provides water treatment and wastewater services through the ownership, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure including reservoirs, groundwater wells, surface water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and miles of open channel and conveyance systems.
The Accounts Receivable/Customer Service Assistant 1 is responsible for providing support relating to a wide variety of accounting and customer service activity, whilst maintaining security and confidentiality of financial information and records. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with discretion and the ability to multi-task. Through on-the-job training and guidance, knowledge and skills will be gained to perform the duties listed below.
- Performs billing activities such as determining appropriate charges for licenses and/or permits requested, collecting payments, and arranging for billing.
- Uses effective questioning and problem-solving techniques to interact with commercial and residential customers, either by phone or in person, to provide assistance, information, and resolve problems in response to inquires and/or complaints about a variety of billing issues. Refers unresolved customer grievances to appropriate staff.
- Assists with reviewing and/or preparing permitting and/or licensing documents as required. Researches and reviews accounts, gathers information, and requests field investigations and inspections. Updates customer accounts with changes as appropriate.
- Updates and maintains records detailing financial business transactions such as disbursements, deposits and/or accounts receivable documents.
- Maintains and reviews accuracy of information on a variety of computer systems, investigates disputed or questionable data, and recommends actions to resolve discrepancies with employees, management, external vendors or customers.
- Compiles and maintains a variety of data in various computer programs and prepares and distributes a variety of reports as required; enters data info computer system using defined computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite Programs, D365, etc.
- Performs general administrative duties such as creating and/or maintaining spreadsheets, composing correspondence, scanning documents, and conducting general research.
- This position is classified as secondary essential personnel. The individual holding this position will be required to work as required in (1) preparation for an emergency event and/or (2) during recovery from an emergency event as directed by their direct supervisor, Department/Division Manager, the appropriate Senior Level Manager, or the General Manager.

- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associate’s degree in related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
- At least 2 years’ experience and/or training in customer service.
