The Accounts Payable/Accounting Assistant will support the Accounting Manager/Senior Accountant with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions.
· Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering and sorting documents and related information.
· Pays invoices by verifying transaction information; scheduling and preparing disbursements; obtaining authorization of payment.
· Obtains revenue by verifying transaction information; computing charges and refunds; preparing and mailing invoices; identifying delinquent accounts and insufficient payments.
· Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
· Maintains accounting ledgers by posting account transactions.
· Verifies accounts by reconciling statements and transactions.
· Resolves account discrepancies by investigating documentation, issuing stop payments, payments, or adjustments.
· Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.
· Maintains financial historical records by filing accounting documents.
· Calculates and reports sales tax based on paid invoices.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent data entry, math, and problem-solving skills
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Ability to act with integrity, positivity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
· Thorough knowledge of basic accounting functions and activities.
· Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – especially Microsoft Excel.
· Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s SAP system.
· Associates or Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
· Experience with SAP or related ERP system preferred.
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
