The Accounting Manager will be responsible for providing financial analyses, recommendations, and support to business leaders across the company and being primary liaison between accounting and such leadership. This role will be initially focused on our largest company which is in the fuel distribution industry (Colonial Oil Industries, Inc.) that has revenues in excess of $2 billion.
Under the direction of the Accounting Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the general accounting functions and inventory accounting function needs of the company. The inventory accounting function consists of calculating FIFO, LIFO and LCM inventory values along with reconciliation of inventory to subledger and general ledger. This position is also responsible for managing several team members within the accounting team. Key duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Position requires significant interaction with cross-corporate departments and all levels of personnel within the company. Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving ability, and developed interpersonal skills are required. The ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment is necessary. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and use of pivot tables) is required, and the candidate should be comfortable working with multiple PC software platforms and large automated accounting systems.
