Job Description

Our 70-person engineering firm is seeking an accounting/finance manager to lead our accounting department. The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting professional with deep technical expertise, proven leadership skills, and an ability to drive results while developing talent. Qualifications Core Responsibilities of this job:

- Deep understanding of GAAP and financial reporting best practices.

- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

- Monitor and analyze accounting data to uncover trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.

- Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals; provide coaching and performance feedback.

- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.

- Ensure timely multi-state tax filings and coordinate with external tax advisors as needed.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.

- 8+ years accounting experience - 5+years managing support staff

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

- Dynamic leadership and team motivation skills, with a proactive approach to collaboration.

- Experience coaching and developing staff, supporting growth and performance.

- Ability to analyze financial performance and translate insights into actionable strategies.

- High-level organizational and problem-solving skills, ensuring departmental efficiency.

- Excellent time-management, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Soft Skills

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is advantageous

- Ability to keep sensitive matters confidential
