The Access / Security & Fire Technician III is responsible for installing, servicing, and programming Access Controls systems (all required components) for the Sustainability Controls Division Projects.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics and operation/product manuals.
- Performs inspections, service, programming, and installation activities on electronic systems.
- Overtimes may be required during busy project schedules.
- Proficient at maintaining, repairing, installing, and programming conventional and addressable alarm, security, nurse call, intercom, CCTV Systems and other related building systems products.
- Manage techs both on site and remotely.
- Understand the costs associated with jobs to keep projects in budget.
- Assist with training of new techs as they are hired.
- Communicate with vendors, management, and contractors on a daily basis.
- Relevant Trade School Education (instrumentation, HVAC, automation, etc.), two years' experience in installing access control, fire and life safety, or electronic systems, or other applicable transferable skills and experiences suited for this role.
- Ability to service, maintain, and program access controls systems.
- Depending on location, the mounting and termination of low voltage devices may have special licensing requirements.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude.
- Able to use hand and power tools.
- Basic computer skills required, (i.e., Word, Excel, email).
- Attention to detail.
- Knowledge of test equipment to include multi-meters, decibel meters and communication devices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Access Control, and/or CCTV.
- Must be process oriented and driven to increase productivity metrics for department.
- Must be comfortable in front of customers.
- Willing to work overtime and be part of a rotating on-call schedule.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
- Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
- Trade School Education (Electrical Instrumentation, HVAC, electrical, automation, etc)
- 2+ years of experience in installing, servicing, and programming access controls systems.- Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
- Experience with graphical design software
- TWIC Card required for any industrial work
- Fire Marshal License with CCTV and Special locking endorsements.
- 5-10% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles
- Climbing stairs.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Operating machinery and/or power tools
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind
- Noisy environment
- Medium work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds
