Our Control Centre team manages and operates AltaLink's transmission wire facilities in real-time, 24 hours per day. Assets include over 13,000 kilometers of transmission lines and 300 substations. As an AltaLink Control Centre Operator, you play a key role in overseeing the safe and reliable transmission of electricity for our customers and will report to the Manager, ACC Real Time within the System Operation – ACC Real Time Team. The successful candidate must also be able to work a rotating 12-hour shift.
+ Operating the system in accordance with AltaLink's Transmission Operating Procedures, Alberta Reliability Standards (ARC) and North American Electrical Reliability Council (NERC) Operating policies. + Monitoring adequate voltage and element loading and implementing preventative and corrective action to minimize the number of violations. + Assessing impact of and implementing the corrective actions required to restore the system to a stable state of minimum risk; and + Preparing and safely carrying out planned and emergency switching procedures on the power system.
Requirements
* Minimum requirement of Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma, Power System Electrician or Journeyman Power Lineman or equivalent related utility experience.AltaLink employees should be aware that we may contact your manager during the selection process.
