Job Objective
This position is a leadership and technical role, responsible for supporting Site Facility Engineers and Construction Foremen in their individual development as well as in designing, planning, supervising, and executing all projects and engineering activities with Personal & Process Safety in the fore front.
Essential Job Responsibilities Leadership
- Ensure proper technical competency, mentoring and development for Site Facility Engineers (SFEs) and Construction Foremen.
- Establish clear performance expectations with direct reports and ensure SFEs are prioritizing work with Process safety at the fore front.
- In collaboration with direct reports, establish development plans for each individual. Conduct routine coaching and mentoring sessions with direct reports to review performance and ensure progress on the development plans.
- Hold regular 1:1 sessions with direct reports to provide feedback and hold them accountable to set expectations.
- Provide visible leadership at facilities, project sites, and job locations during project planning and execution.
- Attend morning facility and drill site meetings and weekly safety meetings. Provide input and expertise related to process safety.
- Participate in Incident investigations, Process Hazard Analyses, and other process safety related functions as needed.
- Work closely with Operations Managers and Facility Foremen to accomplish Asset Team goals.
- Requirement of 5:2 or 7:7 schedule. Ability to work with an alternate if on a rotational schedule

- Implement and maintain minimum standards for engineering design packages; construction work packages and project plans; and contractor performance that are in line with our Master Service Agreements, applicable safety regulations, and the Alaska Safety Handbook.
- Provide technical guidance to SFEs and Construction Foremen.
- Ensure the MOCs process is followed. Ensure changes and improvements incorporate process safety into all design and implementation plans.
- Review and approve MOCs as required.
- Vet project ideas to assess technical quality and executability.
- Support SFEs and Construction Foreman in and actively participate in full cycle scoping, preliminary designing, cost estimating, economic analysis, preparation of Request for Proposals, evaluation of bid packages, and evaluation of engineering and construction projects.
- Support operations staff in evaluation and optimization of existing equipment.
- Ensure alignment with Hilcorp policies and practices and applicable codes, recommended practices, and all government regulations.
- Provide expert support to SFEs on industry standards/codes and applicable regulations.
- Support Operations Managers in ensuring safe and effective operations.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.- Minimum 10 years of oil and gas facility engineering experience, preferred 15+ years of experience.
- Minimum 5 years of direct field experience at an oil and gas processing facility.
- Strong leadership presence and skills.
- Proven to successfully mentor and coach.
- Demonstrated knowledge of multiple surface engineering disciplines.
- Experience with PSM facilities.
- Advanced level of proficiency in PHAs, HAZANs, MOCs, and incident investigations.
- Ability to solve problems accurately. Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
- Thorough understanding of equipment design, fabrication, and installation practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding management, administrative and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and State and Federal regulations for oil and gas facilities, including familiarity with North Slope oil & gas operations
- Ability to effectively communicate with Hilcorp personnel and contractors.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
- Ability to consider safety in all decisions.
- Valid Driver’s License and driving record free of violations in order for company to secure automobile insurance for the employees.
- Required: Bachelor’s of Science Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited four-year university or college.
