X- Energy, LLC is seeking an Associate, IV, Capital Project Analytics responsible for developing and owning complex cost models for cutting-edge nuclear projects. This role plays a critical part in shaping the economic foundation of capital projects, supporting billion-dollar investment decisions, and ensuring that the Xe-100 remains at the forefront of energy transition efforts. The position manages the end-to-end process of financial modeling, from structure and assumptions to outputs and strategy, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment across the organization.
Responsibilities:
•Lead the development and evolution of capital project models across a portfolio of infrastructure and energy investments, ensuring that they are reliable, accurate, and support long-term decision-making.
•Build comprehensive financial models that integrate cost estimates, schedules, phasing, escalation, financing, risk assessments, and returns from early feasibility through to execution.
•Drive alignment and clarity across clients, executives, engineers, and commercial teams by presenting, defending, and explaining models.
•Collaborate with estimators, engineers, and procurement leads to ensure input data is robust and well-grounded, while also applying your own judgment to challenge and refine assumptions.
•Streamline and enhance modeling processes, tools, and data architecture to improve speed, accuracy, and transparency within the organization.
•Track project performance against original financial assumptions, analyze variances, and provide recommendations for future strategies.
•Build effective dashboards and reporting frameworks to translate model outputs into actionable insights for real-world decision-making.
•Contribute to the development of business cases, respond to RFIs, and help structure deals, including financing and off-take components.
•Utilize estimating software to perform quantity takeoffs, develop cost estimate models, and generate custom reports.
•Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
•Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
•Typically, ten years’ experience in investment banking, project finance, consulting, infrastructure private equity, or a capital-intensive operating company.
•Expert level skills in Microsoft Excel.
•Experience translating complex models into clear insights and communicating them fluently to both technical and non-technical audiences.
•Experience building, owning, and presenting dynamic models that support major investments or deals.
•Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.
•Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document.
•Shares knowledge related to industry best practices and standards with others across the team.
