Job Summary:
The Rough Clean operator shall be responsible for knockout, Alloy Verification, water-blasting, cutoff, gate-grinding, sandblasting, and rough visual inspection of cast components. The operator will be evaluated periodically for productivity (good parts processed/hour) and quality, and number of re-work returns.
The facility greatly values cross-training and a flexible work force in terms of specific job responsibilities, while the operator’s main task shall be rough cleaning of castings, the operator should not be opposed to working in other areas such as finishing, wax, or mold preparation in foundry once provided with the appropriate instruction.

What you will do:
•Knockout: Removing shell from castings
•Deburring: Removing sharp edges and protrusions from the castings
•Abrasive gate Grinding: Smoothing and shaping the surfaces of castings using various grinding tools. Use of automated gate grind machines
•Sandblasting: Using sand to remove scale, rust, or other surface contaminants
•Water Blasting: Using high-pressure water to remove shell from castings
•Cutting: Using saws or other cutting tools to separate castings from runner systems
•Sorting: Classifying castings based on their characteristics or quality/alloy
•Cleaning: Removing any remaining sand, debris, or contaminants
•Visual Inspection: Inspecting the castings for defects like cracks, voids, or other irregularities
•Alloy Verification: Confirming the correct metal alloy is used in the casting. Use of XRF gun to determine the alloy
•Following Safety Procedures: Ensuring the work area is safe and that all safety regulations are followed
•Maintaining Equipment: Keeping production equipment clean and in good order
•Reporting Issues: Reporting any problems or issues with the castings or equipment to supervisors
What you need to be able do: (Job Requirements)
•Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly
•Must be able to speak, read, and understand English
•Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time while working on castings
•Must be able to understand basic inch and size and weight measurements such as length, height, diameters notated in decimal fractions of an inch and pounds
•Preferred to have a minimum of 2 years of mfg. experience in a related field of metal working/hand finishing/ product inspection or in a position that required the employee to work effectively and intricately with their hands
•Must pass a drug screening and background check prior to beginning work
