Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. (NT Power) delivers electricity to almost 50,000 customers within the Town of Newmarket, Town of Midland and Tay Township. Headquartered in Newmarket, Ontario, NT Power has an additional office in Midland, Ontario, approximately one hour north of Newmarket along the shores of Georgian Bay.
We require a dynamic, highly motivated, and proactive Meter Tech Journeyperson to work out of our office in Midland
while also responsible for metering activities in Newmarket. This is a full-time position, with a comprehensive benefits package and pension plan.
This position will be responsible for providing technical skills and knowledge in performing maintenance, installations, troubleshooting and repairs on Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. (NT Power) metering and associated equipment for the accurate tracking and documented reporting of electricity energy use.
- Performs installations, removals and maintenance of all metering equipment and systems, including troubleshooting, cross phase and accuracy analysis, etc.
- Designs, prepares and installs metering panels for all transformer-rated services in accordance with established standards
- Tests and verifies metering installations to comply with Industry Canada specifications
- Plans, co-ordinates and completes the necessary work to maintain the following NT Power programs:
- Annual meter reverification program
- Annual compliance sampling
- Annual meter department inventory program
- Responds to, investigates and works to resolve consumer metering complaints, either through their own initiative or with the assistance of the Manager of Operations
- Liaises with NT Power departments and operations staff as required, providing metering resources and expertise
- Inspects vehicle(s) and equipment to confirm they are in good working order and reports any problems to the Manager of Operations
- Maintains all utility revenue metering records including reverification, installations and statistical data
- Certified Engineering Technician designation
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience
- Successful completion of EDA Meter Technician program
- Familiarity with the provisions, regulations, requirements and rules of OESC, IHSA, OEB standard bodies (CSA, CEA, ANSI), etc.
- Understanding of metering interrogation reports
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of meter installations and testing of meter services
- Proficiency in using a three-phase circuit analyzer and wattmeter
- Proficiency in using software designed by meter manufacturers such as Sensus, Elster, Itron, ABB, AlphaPlus, and Q Inspector
- Experience with advanced metering infrastructure communication networks and technologies such as EnergyAxis/Connexo and FlexNet
- Experience with meter pulse circuits, providing customers with KYZ outputs
- Understanding of metering interrogation reports
- Applicants must have an excellent safety and attendance record and strong safety awareness.
- Must be highly motivated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with both internal and external clients
- Must possess a valid Ontario Class G Drivers license with a good driving record
