Major Job Duties

This key role supervises and manages the lead plant operators in the daily operations of their assigned water/wastewater treatment facilities. Responsible for leading the team, ensuring the safe operation of all crucial equipment through regular inspection and maintenance thereof. Assists in ensuring regulatory compliance to local, state, and federal standards.

Primary Responsibilities

- Supervise and perform routine scheduled maintenance at assigned facilities

- Assess problems and diagnose equipment failures

- Check the condition of lift stations as needed

- Pull motors and pumps for needed maintenance

- Inspect gate valves

- Locate and mark distribution system facilities

- Ensure the proper installation, relocate, and adjustment of meter boxes and valve cans

- Exterior maintenance of grounds and buildings including lawn and landscaping

- Assist with water and wastewater line repairs and other work as directed

- Always ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility

- Submit orders necessary supplies

- Delegate the completion customer work orders as required

- Maintain a daily maintenance log for regulatory requirements

- Manage employee performance and counseling with the supervision of HR

- All other duties as assigned

Education/Skills

- High School Diploma or Equivalent

- OSHA safety training is a plus

- Valid driver’s license

- Leadership and management experience

- Water and Wastewater Certificates

Working Conditions

- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions

- Ability to lift heavy objects of up to 75 pounds

- Exposure to potential hazards such as chemicals, fumes, and odors

- Will work in confined spaces

- Must be comfortable in high places

- Willingness to be on call in emergency situations
