We are seeking a dedicated
Video Surveillance Systems Field Technicianto support a critical initiative focused on
public safetyand
digital equityin
Philadelphia, PA. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of
residential video doorbell camerasfor the
Ring Camera Initiative. This is a hands-on role where you will work directly with residents to ensure smooth device deployment, registration, and internet connectivity for households without home internet access. If you have strong technical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and the capacity to work independently in field environments, we want to hear from you.
Conduct thorough assessments of installation sites to evaluate power, wiring, and Wi-Fi readiness, ensuring optimal placement for the devices.
- Installation & Configuration:
Install, configure, and test residential video doorbell cameras, ensuring secure and reliable functionality.
- Wired Installations:
Perform wired installations for ADA residents, following the project’s specific guidelines.
- Completion of Installation Checklists:
Document each installation following project procedures and obtain resident sign-offs for completed installations.
- Troubleshooting & Support:
Troubleshoot device and connectivity issues, perform basic Wi-Fi/network troubleshooting, and escalate to vendor support when necessary.
- Inventory Management:
Manage device inventory, including serial numbers, and coordinate equipment swaps or returns for defective devices.
- Event-Day Support:
Assist with event-day deployments and activities such as block parties, as needed.
- Resident Onboarding:
Provide basic training and guidance to residents on using and maintaining their video doorbell cameras.
- Compliance & Safety:Ensure all installations meet safety standards and adhere to project protocols.
2+ years of experience installing and servicing low-voltage devices such as
CCTV
,
access control
,
alarms
, and
networking
systems, or equivalent.
- Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading wiring diagrams and schematics; ability to perform safe, effective installations using standard tools.
- Troubleshooting:
Strong ability to troubleshoot basic Wi-Fi/network connectivity issues and resolve them efficiently.
- Customer Service:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with residents and ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Licensing:
Valid driver’s license and ability to safely perform fieldwork in outdoor environments.
Previous experience working with
video surveillance systems
, including cameras and related software/tools.
- Networking Knowledge:
Familiarity with
networking concepts
such as
switches
,
VLANs
,
Power over Ethernet (PoE)
, and
structured cabling
.
