The Broadband Operations Technician supports the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the BOLT Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network. This role is responsible for assisting with the routing, staking, and inspection of fiber optic facilities, ensuring projects are completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable specifications. The position balances technical, environmental, and economic considerations while delivering reliable broadband service to subscribers.

- Ensure fiber optic systems are designed and constructed in accordance with RUS specifications, BOLT standards, and applicable portions of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Collaborate with developers, engineers, contractors, and internal teams to support broadband project needs and construction coordination.
- Provide professional, responsive service to subscribers, developers, and project partners by addressing questions, concerns, and service needs.
- Evaluate subscriber demand, develop house counts, assign fiber routes, and size equipment appropriately to support current service requirements and future growth.
- Obtain and coordinate easements for fiber construction and ensure all easement documentation is properly executed and recorded.
- Observe existing overhead and underground facilities during field activities; identify safety, reliability, or construction issues and report concerns promptly.
- Assist with restoration of broadband services during outages by troubleshooting issues and supporting in-house and contract crews to expedite service restoration.
- Operate tools, equipment, and software used in the design, staking, and inspection of fiber optic facilities.
- Complete assigned work accurately and on schedule, maintaining accountability for daily tasks.
- Prepare and maintain required documentation, reports, and records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with development and execution of broadband construction and maintenance work plans.
- Safeguard BOLT resources by maintaining vehicles, tools, and assigned equipment in good working condition.
- Participate in ongoing training, meetings, workshops, and continuing education related to job duties and evolving broadband technologies.
- Inspect completed and in-progress construction to verify compliance with RUS, BOLT, and project specifications; document and report deficiencies promptly.
- Review as-built documentation and coordinate with GIS personnel to ensure accurate system mapping and records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in aerial and underground design and construction of fiber optic or other utility systems required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- CPR Certification required.
Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Frequently works in rough terrain. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Work is performed primarily outdoors with regular exposure to varying weather conditions.
