PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Job requires the person to occasionally bend, stoop and squat, crouch, climb into and out of vehicles, ascend/descend ladders, twist, kneel, balance and reach. Occasionally lift shoulder height and above, waist high and knee-high items weighing up to 60 lbs., rarely up to 75 lbs. Frequently use exertional force greater than 50 lbs.; occasionally carry items with one or two hands weighing up to 60 lbs. Must be able to operate vehicle foot and hand controls. Frequently grasp items such as hand and power tools, test equipment, ladders, etc.; use fine hand manipulation frequently while using small hand tools, computer keyboard, etc. Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property. To ensure the manufacturer's rated capacity of climbing hooks, ladders, and aerial equipment are not exceeded, applicant body weight cannot exceed 300 lbs. Additional job- and safety-related training may be required, at times off site. Must achieve satisfactory completion of all required training as identified. Ability to physically perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Meter Technician Apprentices will be required to satisfy the requirements of the apprenticeship-training program and become certified within 54 months of the job selection. May be required to work in an on-call rotation and work overtime when needed, including in response to emergencies outside of normal working hours. Employees must live within the 30-mile drive distance boundaries on the appropriate operations center map with the expectation that under normal driving conditions, they will respond to their home operations center in 45 minutes or less, if required to stand on call. Work outside in adverse weather conditions. Drive and maintain a company vehicle in accordance with Company policy. Travel around service area and overnight on occasion. Must wear company provided and approved fire-resistant (FR) clothing and safety footwear.
