Job Overview:
The Electrical Projects Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth planning, execution, and completion of electrical aspects of residential or commercial solar projects. This position acts as the communication bridge between project managers, electricians, permitting teams, utility companies, and inspectors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a strong understanding of electrical systems, permitting requirements, and the solar installation process.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule all electrical-related project tasks from contract signing through Permission to Operate (PTO), ensuring timely and accurate execution.
•Electrical Plan Management
Manage the preparation, review, and submission of electrical plans (e.g., single-line diagrams, load calculations) to permitting authorities and internal teams.
•Permitting & Inspections
Submit and track electrical permits, coordinate required inspections, and maintain communication with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction).
•Team & Vendor Communication
Serve as a liaison between electricians, project managers, utility companies, and other stakeholders to ensure all electrical work aligns with project timelines and standards.
Coordinate with utility providers on net-metering applications, grid interconnection approvals, and any required service upgrades.
•Documentation & Compliance
Ensure all documentation—plans, permits, as-builts, and compliance records—are up-to-date and properly stored in project databases or CRMs.
•Problem Solving & Escalation
Proactively identify and resolve electrical-related issues, bottlenecks, or discrepancies before they impact the project schedule.
Primary Duties:
•Schedule electrical inspections and coordinate with in-house or contracted electricians.
•Review and track electrical plans, change orders, and utility requirements.
•Communicate project progress, hold-ups, and inspection results to internal teams and customers.
•Track utility interconnection steps and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
•Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure electrical drawings meet requirements.
•Monitor installation progress to flag delays or code compliance issues.
•Maintain accurate records for every stage of the electrical project lifecycle.
•Print or prepare project-specific electrical documents for job site use.
•Assist with training or process improvements related to electrical project workflows.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
•Understanding of electrical codes, solar system components, and permitting processes.
•Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects.
•Excellent communication and coordination skills.
•Proficiency in project management software, CRMs, and Microsoft Office Suite.
•Comfortable reading and interpreting electrical schematics and construction plans.
•Detail-oriented and solution-driven.
•High school diploma required; technical certifications or Associate’s degree a plus.
