Reports To: Shop Supervisor / Manufacturing Manager
SPS West is seeking a full-time Welder/Fitter to support in-house fabrication of industrial equipment and assemblies. This role is hands-on and production-focused, requiring strong TIG and MIG welding skills across carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Journeyman certification is not required; demonstrated skill, reliability, and pride in workmanship are non-negotiable.
- Perform TIG and MIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components
- Fit, tack, and weld parts based on drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions
- Fabricate small to medium-sized assemblies, frames, enclosures, and custom components
- Maintain weld quality to internal standards (appearance, penetration, consistency)
- Work collaboratively with shop leads, engineers, and other trades
- Assist with general fabrication tasks as required (cutting, grinding, drilling, assembly)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow shop safety procedures and quality expectations
- Strong TIG and MIG welding experience (shop or industrial environment)
- Proven ability to weld:
- Carbon steel
- Stainless steel
- Aluminum
- Ability to read basic fabrication drawings and measurements
- Comfortable fitting parts before welding
- Solid understanding of weld preparation, joint types, and distortion control
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable
- Experience with light structural fabrication or enclosures
- Experience working with thin-gauge materials
- Forklift or shop equipment experience
- Pressure welding experience (not required)
- Full-time, steady work in a growing manufacturing environment
