This role offers a valuable opportunity to grow and build hands-on experience in finance and accounting, taking ownership and initiative as the position develops. The successful candidate will maintain a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail while thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Working closely with accounting team members in both Ponoka and Calgary, this position will support the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
This position reports directly to the VP of Corporate Services.
- Full-cycle accounting including month-end close process
- Reconciliation of general ledger accounts and bank statements
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules including processing depreciation entries
- Work closely with other teams to ensure accurate project reporting and related month-end accruals
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements
- Prepare weekly cash position statements and other reports as requested
- Update and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Provide back-up support to other team members
- 5-7 years related experience in a full-cycle accounting role
- Familiarity with project accounting and payroll is an asset
- Detail-oriented, organized and able to multi-task effectively
- Able to set priorities and efficiently utilize time-management skills while maintaining accuracy
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
