Overview
The Sales Engineer bridges the gap between technical expertise and customer engagement, driving solar racking sales through engineering insight, strategic planning, and customer-focused solutions. This role supports business development while ensuring technical accuracy in proposals, designs, and project execution.
- Identify and qualify customer needs for solar racking systems based on site conditions and project specs.
- Review and interpret design drawings, specifications, and installation requirements.
- Provide accurate quotes, technical documentation, and warranty details.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, and Procurement teams to ensure feasibility and alignment.
- Support sales forecasting, pipeline tracking, and CRM updates.
- Attend trade shows and industry events to represent the company and generate leads.
- Help define strategic plans for sales territories and market expansion.
- Maintain strong customer relationships through technical support and clear communication.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in sales, technical support, or solar/construction industries.
- Strong understanding of solar racking systems and installation processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with NetSuite or CRM platforms a plus.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across departments.
- Base salary plus competitive per-project commission incentive. ($75,000k-$110,000k)
- Prolonged periods of desk/computer work.
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 30 lbs.
- Travel by car or plane and ability to man trade show booths.
