The Fabrication department is responsible for the fabrication of raw materials as needed to manufacture quality Point Eight Power products in a timely manner. The overall objective of the Bus CNC Operator position is to engage in all activities concerned with producing parts by operating a CNC machine and ensure that jobs are completed and shipped as scheduled while meeting our quality standards. Consistent and accurate modeling and representing the Point Eight Power brand, mission, vision, values and organizational strategy are essential to achieving the goals of the organization.
Schedule: Monday to Friday 6AM to 4PM or 7AM to 5PM |Must be flexible to work overtime and some Saturdays
Support the effort to be a best-in-class manufacturer through the fabrication of high-quality products that exceed our clients’ expectations by operating either the Punch Press or Break Press machines to cut holes or bend materials as needed for the fabrication of Point Eight Power products. This includes the following:
- Retrieving the punch list, and parts list, and applicable CNC programs to create parts as needed per job.
- Locating and moving or pulling raw sheet metal material as described by the parts list per job.
- Loading materials onto the machine in preparation for punch or break and safely securing materials on the machine with the use of clamps, fingers or other fixtures.
- Selecting die clearance, punches, tools, or other attachments needed to complete projects based on the specifications of the materials; Install and align them as needed to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinating with other CNC Operators to enter commands or adjust machine controls to correct errors, especially while operating the break press.
- Monitoring machines and control panel displays to ensure machines are operating correctly.
- Using tools, such as calipers and protractors, to measure finished products to ensure they meet requirements.
- Staging parts as completed to prepare for the next phase of fabrication.
- Performing scheduled and repair maintenance of machines, as required. This also includes maintaining, sharpening and replacing tools, as necessary.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, well-organized work area.
- Perform necessary side operations during machine cycle time as required.
- Training with the Bus CNC Foremen to develop the skills and learn how to operate both machines.
- High School Diploma/GED, Required.
- Must be flexible to work overtime and some Saturdays. Required.
- 1+ years of sheet metal fabrication or CNC operator field, Preferred.- Ability to read and understand blueprints, preferred.
- Forklift certification, preferred.

- Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Tools include Trump, Accupress, Allen wrenches, grinders, break press, punch press, forklift, crane, shears and calipers
- Technical Experience: Excellent mechanical skills and aptitude in supporting CNC sheet metal equipment, ability to visuals 3D parts from cut sheets. Good math skills and qualified basic computer skills.
- Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as Microsoft Office; knowledge of accounting software such as AS 400.
- Verbal & Written Communication Skills: This position requires basic skills (ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.)
- Math Skills: This position requires intermediate skills (calculate figures/discounts, proportions, area, etc.)
- Arm-Hand Steadiness: The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.?
- Visualization: The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged.?
- Manual Dexterity: The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- This is an FLSA Non-Exempt position and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with federal and state labor laws. This position is classified as non-exempt based on job duties that do not meet the exemption criteria outlined by the FLSA.
- Standard workweek is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week; overtime may be required, including evenings or weekends, based on production demands.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to moving machinery, dust, and industrial noise
- Noise levels range from moderate to high; hearing protection may be required in designated areas
- May be exposed to varying temperatures depending on the season and production processes
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, and hearing protection as applicable
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift)
- Regularly required to lift and/or move materials up to 50 pounds; team lifts used for heavier loads
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting to handle materials or access equipment
- Repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions may be required depending on the task
- Frequent use of material handling equipment such as carts, pallet jacks, and forklifts (if certified)
- Must have the visual acuity to inspect materials and read job orders, labels, and production instructions
