Palmer Industries is a small, independently owned metal furniture manufacturer. Our products are architectural in nature, of very high quality, and appeal to a designer market. Palmer’s products are sold via a national network of upscale bath and kitchen dealers, as well as directly to the designer and hospitality segments. As a member of our intimate team, you will serve an essential and integral role in our business model and operations.
This Draftsperson will be part of a 55-member, team-oriented, professional organization. Desirable, clean, and comfortable working conditions are provided. The drafting software currently utilized is Cadlogic Draft It and Solidworks. Palmer Industries will provide the necessary training and equipment on our existing product line. We are seeking a technical individual, with the aptitude and attitude to not only manage the drawing process, but to correspond via email and phone with the client, processing any redline changes and addressing other issues.
Candidates possessing previous “building/Design” experience in any relevant trade (carpentry, metalworking, manufacturing, or assembly of any kind, etc.), mechanical aptitude, a high level of motivation, versatile skill set, and desirable social skills will be favorably evaluated. Computer skills outside drafting are always a plus. Previous design experience in any capacity is a plus. The candidate we select must be assertive, adaptable, coachable, willing to learn, and possess a “do whatever it takes” work ethic, and take pride in his/her accomplishments.
This role focuses on 2D drafting to create customer-facing drawings that serve as the foundation for our custom production process. As a Draftsperson, you’ll use Draft It and other tools to develop precise drawings and ensure customer needs are accurately captured. Opportunities to grow into advanced areas like 3D modeling and manufacturing processes are available for the right candidate.
- Customer-Facing Drawings: Create and deliver detailed 2D drawings that meet client specifications.
- Client Collaboration: Communicate with clients via email and phone to process redline changes, approvals, and updates to drawings.
- Drafting Expertise: Utilize Draft It and other 2D drafting software to produce accurate and high-quality work.
- Shop Drawings: Generate comprehensive shop drawings, including cut lists, to support the fabrication team.
- Library Maintenance: Build and maintain a library of parts and components for drafting efficiency.
- Growth Opportunities: Expand into 3D modeling, CAMWorks, and additive manufacturing as skills and interests develop.
- 2D Drafting Proficiency: Strong experience with 2D drafting; familiarity with Draft It is highly preferred.

- Communication Skills: Excellent email and phone communication skills to interact effectively with clients and internal teams.
