Part-Time Controller – Manhattan Gulch Gold Mine

With a new plant facility on the horizon and strategic expansion underway, we’re looking for a seasoned financial professional with solid mining expertise to help steward our accounting and tax functions through this next exciting phase.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Part-Time Controller with mining industry experience to oversee our financial reporting, tax compliance, and accounting operations. This role will serve as the lead financial officer for Manhattan Gulch, with responsibility for managing the complex accounting, tax, and reporting functions unique to precious metals mining and development.The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with mining-specific issues such as depletion accounting, reserve classification, production and exploration cost treatment, and financial instruments like gold-linked notes or forward sales contracts.
Key Responsibilities
•Maintain and oversee all accounting records in accordance with GAAP, federal and Nevada tax regulations, and industry-specific mining standards
•Oversee depletion and reserve accounting, including unit-of-production calculations based on proven and probable reserves
•Track and report production costs, inventory valuation (including in-process and dore bars), and mineral property capitalization
•Administer forward contracts, royalty agreements, and gold-linked note instruments, ensuring accurate financial treatment and disclosure
•Coordinate and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting cycles
•Prepare and file all state and federal tax filings, including those specific to extractive industries; work closely with external CPAs for strategic tax planning
•Monitor cash flow and accounts payable/receivable; reconcile bank, inventory, and bullion accounts
•Maintain detailed asset schedules for capital equipment, reclamation liabilities, and development costs
•Support permitting, royalty, and reclamation-related compliance reporting
•Collaborate with management on budgeting, financial modeling, and investor reporting
•Prepare or oversee audit-ready financial packages and participate in due diligence efforts for external investors or lenders
•Assist in financial planning and accounting oversight related to upcoming capital projects, including new plant installation
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
•Minimum 5 years of experience in the mining, metals, or natural resources sectors
•Strong understanding of mining-specific accounting issues including:
•Reserve and depletion calculations
•Mineral property amortization
•Exploration vs. development expense treatment
•Accounting for forward sales, hedges, and gold-linked debt instruments
•Familiarity with Nevada gross proceeds tax, severance tax, and IRS Section 613 depletion rules
•Experience with QuickBooks, Excel, and accounting for capital-intensive, multi-entity structures
•Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a part-time capacity
•Located in Nevada or able to travel to Round Mountain occasionally (hybrid/remote acceptable)
