- Manage drilling operations on mining projects, underground and surface exploration, at many levels including manpower, assets, drilling equipment and customer relationship.
- Lead crew to always perform at a high-quality by executing tasks effectively in a manner that will not endanger self or others or the environment.
- Communicate to employees the importance of performing assigned duties following all applicable legislation, company policies and safe work procedures.
- Supervise activities in a safe, productive, and cost-efficient way.
- Ensure that all equipment is kept in order while maintaining efficient drilling productivity.
- Contribute by teaching and demonstrating commitment to controlling risks and eliminating hazards.
- Address all inquiries from clients regarding the day-to-day activities of the operations but only in accordance with directives from management.
- Ensure induction policies are followed.
- Complete and send reports within deadlines.
- Provide technical/administrative support for one or more rigs, and survey sites for accessibility.
- Consider, evaluate, and make suggestions for improvements to equipment and procedures to enable the company to stay at the forefront of the industry.
- Ensure that all equipment mobilized is in safe operating condition, with mandatory safety devices installed and ensure that safety devices are maintained and remain on equipment.
- Make recommendations to management regarding the promotion, demotions, retraining, location and relocation of staff and equipment.
- Assess equipment and procedures while making recommendations for improvements.
- Diagnose down hole problems and arrange remedial action.
- Liaise with the maintenance personnel to ensure that vehicles and drilling equipment are properly maintained and repaired promptly.
- Ensure that driving mobile equipment (muskeg, snowmobile, truck etc.) is in accordance with internal/external policies, rules, and directives.
- Tasks are not limited to the above and other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
