As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a motivated and mechanically inclined Millwright to join our team on-site at SSAB - Iowa.
Position Summary:
We’re seeking a dependable and driven Millwright who is hands-on, safety-focused, and ready to work in a dynamic industrial environment. This role involves equipment maintenance and installation, assisting with refractory product installation, troubleshooting mechanical systems, and working alongside our materials and operations teams. This position offers real potential for upward growth within a supportive and close-knit team.
Key Responsibilities:
•Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment used in steel manufacturing
•Support refractory product installations and material handling
•Perform mechanical troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
•Assist with equipment upgrades and fabrication projects
•Work with operations to ensure smooth performance of plant systems
•Maintain a safe and clean work environment following all safety protocols
•Communicate with clients and internal team members to ensure job success
Qualifications:
•Proven mechanical aptitude and experience in an industrial setting
•Welding or fabrication experience preferred
•Comfortable working in high-temperature, heavy-duty manufacturing environments
•Forklift operation and other machinery experience a plus
•Must be a self-starter who thrives when working independently
•Strong interpersonal skills and customer-focused attitude
•Technical training or relevant certifications are a plus
Bonus Skills:
•Familiarity with the steelmaking process
•Prior experience with refractory materials or mill service work
•Experience working in or around mini mills or melt shops
