POSITION SUMMARY
Marathon Petroleum Company’s Illinois Refining Division in Robinson, IL is seeking a Project Controls Specialist. The Project Control Specialist will provide cost analysis services for projects managed within the Maintenance Department. This position will be continuously interfacing with Maintenance, Accounting and Engineering teams, providing relevant input and cost analysis reporting. The successful candidate will be an active team member willing to bring forward innovative ideas for future improvements.
Relocation is approved for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Performs project setups and management of work orders and forecasts using Marathon’s integrated tools.
•Ensures work breakdown structures (WBS) and other coding is aligned with project budget and schedule.
•Updates maintenance forecasts for the budgeting process and manages historical cost data, ensuring data is available for future budgeting.
•Provides project controls support leading up to and during site turnaround and major maintenance events.
•Works with outside contractors to ensure cost control expectations and deliverables are met via facilitating project controls workshops and participating in contractor meetings.
•Works with the maintenance team to establish a planned cash flow/forecast of overall cost and schedule.
•Calculates monthly accruals and forecasts, generating accurate and timely reports and communicating them to additional departments, project team leaders, and other stakeholders.
•Audits data and ensures compliance with settlement rules, per cost consistency guidelines.
•Confirms cost reports are fully integrated with site reporting systems.
•Interfaces routinely with various internal and external team members to promote effective utilization of project control functions, gather information, identify and communicate issues, and resolve challenges.
•Conducts one-off, weekly, and monthly cost meetings with Maintenance, Engineering, Accounting, and other stakeholders.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum (Required) Qualifications:
•Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
•Valid driver’s license required
•Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in construction management, finance, accounting, business administration, engineering, or related field.
•Two years of projects, construction planning, scheduling, operations, engineering, accounting, purchasing, or cost controls work.
•Experience with Enterprise Project Controls systems such as SAP or Primavera P6.
SKILLS
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
•Strong communicator with good written and verbal communication skills.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
The schedule for this role is Monday-Thursday, 10-hours a day with Fridays off (4-10's schedule).
