Job Summary:
Water & Wastewater Services LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Assistant to support the financial operations of our growing utility service company. This role is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and administrative tasks related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and customer billing. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a working knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting:
•Maintain general ledger accounts and record all financial transactions.
•Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including vendor payments and customer billing.
•Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
•Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for management and board review.
•Prepare monthly board packets and vouchers.
Billing & Revenue Management:
•Generate and process water service invoices for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
•Help process and maintain accurate Meter Reading
•Track and follow up on outstanding balances to ensure timely collections.
•Maintain customer accounts and update billing information as needed.
Budgeting & Compliance:
•Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
•Ensure financial practices align with local, state, and federal regulations.
•Maintain organized financial records for audits and regulatory reporting.
Office Administration & Support:
•Answer customer inquiries related to billing and account balances.
•Assist with procurement, purchase orders, and vendor communications.
•Support administrative functions, such as filing, document preparation, and correspondence.
•Office supply orders and organization of the copy room.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
•Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
•Minimum 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (preferably in a municipal, or utility office).
•Experience with government accounting practices is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
•Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Spectrum Viewpoint and accounting software.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excell, Work, Outlook)
•Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
•Knowledge of wastewater utility billing and regulatory compliance (preferred).
•Excellent communication and customer service skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment & Schedule:
· Office-based role with occasional field and customer interaction
· Standard business hours (8am-4:30pm) with occasional overtime or extended hours during reporting and or billing periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
