Seneca Resources is supporting a client in the satellite communications industry seeking a
Satellite Ground Station Field Service Engineerto support commercial, government, and military SATCOM operations. This is a hands-on field role responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and restoring satellite earth station systems worldwide.
The engineer will work independently and alongside engineering teams to diagnose issues, perform emergency rest orals, and ensure continuous, reliable satellite communications for mission-critical operations.
- Provide global technical support for SATCOM earth station customers
- Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of satellite ground systems
- Diagnose root cause issues and implement short- and long-term solutions
- Support emergency restoration activities with minimal customer downtime
- Interface directly with customers and internal engineering teams
- Provide remote troubleshooting and on-site technical support
- Develop and execute test plans and document results- 5+ years of field experience supporting
SATCOM, RF, radar, or satellite ground systems
- Hands-on experience with:
- Antennas, ACUs
- Up/Down converters
- HPAs
- LNA/LNBs
- Fiber optic subsystems
- Baseband & IP equipment (modems, multiplexers, DVB, broadband platforms)
- Direct experience installing and repairing
satellite earth stations
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting LAN/IP equipment
- Ability to work independently in high-stress, mission-critical environments
- Willingness to be on-call (up to 30%) and work extended hours as needed
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to develop test plans and technical reports
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
OR
- Associate degree plus equivalent hands-on experience
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active U.S. passport or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Ability to travel internationally (up to 50%)
- Ability to obtain/maintain required government clearances
- Ability to pass physical requirements (lifting, grip strength, positional tolerance)
- Willingness to comply with vaccination requirements for government travel
