We are seeking a temporary Electrical Drafter to assist in the preparation of detailed design drawings and documentation for industrial control panels. The ideal candidate will be proficient in AutoCAD and experienced in creating electrical schematics, panel layouts, cable drawings, and wiring diagrams. This role requires strong drafting skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards, including UL 508A, CSA C22.2 No. 286, and CSA C22.1 (Canadian Electrical Code).
- Create and revise electrical schematics, panel layout drawings, cable drawings, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
- Convert engineering sketches, notes, and markups into precise CAD drawings.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for industrial control panels, including wire lists, terminal diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards such as UL 508A, CSA C22.2 No. 286 (Industrial Control Panels), and CSA C22.1.
- Apply redlines and design revisions accurately and efficiently.
- Organize and maintain drawing files, revisions, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with engineering and production teams to resolve documentation or design
- 1–3 years of experience drafting industrial control panels.
- Knowledge of electrical symbols, wiring practices, and cable routing techniques.
- Familiarity with UL 508A, CSA C22.2 No. 286, and CSA C22.1 standards.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and layout drawings.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Capable of working independently and managing multiple drafting tasks.
- Experience producing detailed control panel layout drawings, including internal wiring and component placement.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical experience is an asset).
- Experience preparing cable drawings and managing cable schedules.
- Background in control panel fabrication or electrical installation projects.
- Understanding of best practices in electrical drafting and document control.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related field preferred.
