Primary Purpose
Manage and enhance the Company’s ergonomics program and acts as the primary subject matter expert. Apply and train on ergonomic science concepts for designing, positioning and arranging so that employees can work safely and effectively. Work independently under general supervision. Provide expertise and guidance to internal clients and Safety & Health department to ensure that all social and legal responsibilities for protecting employees are met through appropriate policies, programs, recommendations and training.
In a lead capacity, manage various size ergonomics projects. Provide guidance and work direction to cross function teams to address field, industrial and office ergonomic concerns. This includes developing the project scope, deliverables, goals, objectives, execution, lessons learned and close out reporting. Establish contracts for ergonomic consultants and technology related contractors. Monitor contracts and contractor performance to ensure performance meets company standards. Provide tools and advanced tactics to clients for specialized and complex issues for improved safety performance.
Develops and maintains a strong partnership among client organizations to identify and prioritize safety & health and ergonomic needs. Proactively consult with clients to diagnose and analyze ergonomics related problems or needs. Recommend and advocate proactive solutions when appropriate. Maintain management and stakeholder support of the ergonomic programs. Apply business skills and link ergonomic programs to SoCalGas strategic plans/objectives. Provide cost benefit analysis for recommended solutions. Represent the company with policy and regulatory issues. Analyze evaluation data and reports findings to make appropriate recommendations to stakeholders based on available information and best practice standards. Analyze the characteristics of existing and emerging ergonomic tools and technologies and their use in an occupational environment. Assesses benefits of existing and new technologies. Specify the capabilities of existing and emerging technologies to enhance existing ergonomic programs and minimize ergonomic risks. Provide presentations to all levels of employees (Senior management to front line employees). Develop communication documents to inform employees about ergonomic related issues. Maintain strong client relationships and act in proactive manner to minimize risks to the company. Provide tools, training and tactics to clients, which lead to improvement of their safety performance.
