About The Job
Responsible to the Line Superintendent for the performance of labor necessary for the construction and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission lines. Responsible for following the training program for a Lineman I as outlined by the Apprentice Lineman Standards.
Duties are semi-routine with a major emphasis on learning safe, thorough work habits by repeatedly performing them under the direction of Journeyman Linemen. Duties are performed within the limits of standard practice. The individual must comply with requirements set forth by the Cooperative Apprenticeship Committee. These requirements include successful completion of a designated structured course in electrical theory and formulas. The individual must also pass periodic tests of theory and practical knowledge before advancing to the next progressive step of Lineman II. Successful completion of all portions of the Lineman I program will result in the individual being certified as a Lineman II. The Line Superintendent provides supervision to ensure that safe working habits and all Apprentice Lineman Standards are followed. The Working Foreman and Lineman II provide direction and guidance. Errors could be serious and involve loss of production, waste of material and damage to equipment. Work is usually inspected as it is being performed. Faulty or careless work could constitute a severe safety hazard to self or others and damage to Cooperative and consumer facilities. There are only occasional outside contacts, usually for the purpose of obtaining information.
This is a Non-exempt onsite position at our Woodland Park Office located at 800 North Highway 67, Woodland Park, CO 80863. You must reside within 40 (forty) miles of this location; no remote or hybrid work options available.
This is a union position, subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and governed by CORE's rules, regulations, policies, and applicable state and federal law.
You will...
•Connect and install all standard types of single-phase and three-phase self-contained metering and service drops.
•Use safe working habits and always follow CORE'S safety rules.
•Perform various types of maintenance as part of CORE's commitment to providing safe, reliable power.
•Drive and operate various types of vehicles and power equipment.
•Set and tamp poles and anchors.
•Frame poles, install guys, strings, and ties in conductor.
•Work on energized conductors -
•Rubber gloves 12.5 kV from a bucket truck.
•Hot sticks up to and including 115 kV from poles.
•Install, remove, and make minor repairs and adjustments on oil-filled switchgear, regulators, capacitors, and transformers.
•Construct various types of three-phase transformer banks.
•Read kilowatt hour and demand type meters.
•Complete Lineman portion of various types of service orders.
•Disconnect meter or service on delinquent accounts in accordance with Cooperative rules and regulations.
•Understand and use Cooperative location numbers and maps.
•Determine causes of problems and restores electric service to normal.
•Install, remove, and repair street and yard lights.
•Locate underground electric cable.
•Report potential or existing problems or hazards on the CORE's electric system to supervisor.
•Use two-way radio in accordance with Cooperative procedure.
•Patrol transmission and distribution lines.
•Inspect and notes abnormal conditions of oil-filled equipment.
•Install various types of recording meters on distribution and secondary lines.
•Maintain in good condition all personal tools and equipment as well as assigned Cooperative equipment, tools, and vehicles.
•Use proper procedures and account numbers when filling out daily time sheets and material use tickets.
•Respond to call-out at all hours, including holidays and weekends to restore or maintain electric service to consumers.
•Perform other duties as directed.

•A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
•A valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) unrestricted class A and a DOT medical certificate are required and must be maintained. This position is subject to DOT controlled substance and alcohol testing regulations.
•Employee must reside no more than 40 (forty) road miles from their respective district office.
Preferred Qualifications
•Graduation from a Line School or 2 years of industry experience
Working Conditions And Physical Requirements
The duties and tasks require the ability to routinely lift fifty pounds and occasionally lift a maximum of one hundred pounds. Working conditions are primarily outside, including possible isolated work areas, callout at all hours and exposure to adverse weather conditions. Employee may be exposed to toxic materials, including PCB.
Hourly Pay Rate: $46.64
