Software Lead - Airbuild One

Airbuild is deploying real-world technology to address the most significant challenges in clean water, carbon removal, and renewable energy. Our first Pod is already rolling out in Utah, and now we’re building Airbuild One, the software platform that monitors, manages, and scales these climate systems.

We’re looking for a team lead with strong backend dev skills to help architect and lead the development of Airbuild One. You’ll work closely with our engineering teams across software, hardware, and field ops to create the core systems that bring data to life and unlock impact at scale.

🔧 What You’ll Own

- Architect and build backend APIs for Pod monitoring, control, and reporting

- Design data pipelines that handle sensor inputs, environmental metrics, and system performance

- Lead backend development and coordinate with frontend, IoT, and ops contributors.

- Collaborate on field-deployable systems that drive real-time insights and automation.

- Shape the direction of the Airbuild One platform.

🧠 What We’re Looking For

- Strong backend development skills in Node.js, TypeScript, or Python

- Experience with APIs, cloud functions, and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)

- Previous project or team leadership experience, or a strong interest in stepping into that role

- Ability to navigate ambiguity, self-direct, and make thoughtful architecture choices

- Passion for solving real-world problems in climate, water, or infrastructure tech

🌍 Bonus Points For

- Experience with MQTT, sensor data, or edge devices

- Familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud, or similar cloud platforms

- Background in environmental science, civil infrastructure, or DevOps
