Machine Design Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW:

PLP is currently seeking a bright, talented, and creative individual to help us manage the present and create a better future. This person will work with a newly created internal advanced manufacturing group and will focus on implementing automation, machine design, and manufacturing technology. Innovation is encouraged to enhance the PLP manufacturing process. The position requires collaboration with global team members to ensure best practices are communicated and adopted.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

As a core team member, you will be responsible for designing and developing custom machinery, improve existing processes and manage the projects allocated to you from conception to final production. You will also be required to liaise with internal customers to ensure the specific production needs are met.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering. Experience will not be considered in lieu of degree.

EXPERIENCE

4-6 years’ experience in mechanical design of custom-built production equipment and automated systems in a manufacturing facility is required. Experience in generating technical drawings and basic troubleshooting of control systems. Experience with 3D solid modeling software (Creo preferred).

SKILLS

The candidate must possess strong mechanical design, hands-on and prototyping capabilities; technical competency in industrial automation components; highly versed in pneumatics, vacuum, servo, powertrain design; proficient in 3D modeling software (Creo preferred) and MS Office software applications; knowledge of industrial standards (ANSI, ASME, OSHA); experience in design for manufacturability, cost effectiveness and time reduction; solid organizational skills including detail-oriented personality and multitasking skills; work well independently or in teams; proven abilities as an innovator and creative problem solver; have clear, concise and accurate communication skills (verbal and written).
