CASHIER

Position Description: Job Overview:Responsible for the proper and efficient operation of his or her shift, within company policy, in such a manner as to ensure that the shift contributes to the increased profitability of the store.

Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to:

Ability to perform arithmetic calculations at the eighth-grade level in order to be able to make change, complete shift reports, and account for numbers of a variety of products during vendor check in

Have sufficient visual acuity to check identification

Ability to read and understand instructions for operating cash register, adding machine, and other basic office machines and equipment

Ability to stock shelves, coolers, and ice machine

Ability to react to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 25 pounds and moving it over the fire area

Ability to tolerate exposure to cleaning materials

Ability to sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, lift and carry trash containers and place in an outside bin

Ability to clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the convenience store

Ability to talk, hear, stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch

Greet customers when entering or leaving the store

Manage customer transactions with a positive attitude

Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

Ability to enter and work in a cooler at a temp of 40 degrees for up to 30 minutes at a time

Ability to respond appropriately in an emergency or hazmat situation

Follows company quality, safety, and environmental guidelines

Ability to occasionally work alone

Ability to handle high levels of stress

Regular and reliable attendance

Ability to operate in a constant state of alertness

Qualifications/Experience/EducationAbility to speak and understand English, including the ability to hear the spoken word

Ability to read, understand, and write the English language at the eight-grade level

Must be at least 18 years of age
